State Finals Preview - Girls Team TOC

Friday, February 10 at Bowlero Carolier, North Brunswick

Twenty-four of the best girls bowling teams in New Jersey will gather on Friday morning.  Four of them will walk out of the building as state champions, and one of those four will be the Tournament of Champions winner as well.  Let's meet the teams.

Team score in parentheses is score from sectional tournament.  GA is season-long Game Average. All bowler averages are conference play only.  More detailed commentary on most teams appears in the applicable sectional preview.

GROUP I

RAMSEY (unranked overall, #1 in Group I)
1st in North (2294)    GA: 153.8
Samantha Conklin (150), Lindsay Pepper (156), Grace Buysse (145), Angela DiNallo (168), Samantha Suser (143)

CARTERET (unranked overall, #3 in Group I)
1st in Central (2330)    GA: 151.1
Allison Russell (150), Amanda Medvetz (146), Ashley Espy (162), Nicole Zorrilla (155), Shelby Kappes (140)

WESTWOOD (unranked overall, #4 in Group I)
2nd in North (2268)    GA: 150.3
Kristen Benavente (177), Gabriella Stellacci (169), Rebecca Cirillo (142), Camryn Collova (131), Cynthia Hager (107)

MATAWAN (unranked overall, #5 in Group I)
2nd in Central (2247)    GA: 139.5
Alyssa Chambers (135), Erin Lietz (125), Katie Davoe (147), Laura McCannon (151), Samantha Siragusa (141)

DONOVAN CATHOLIC (unranked overall, #7 in Group I)
1st in South (2167)    GA: 136.7
Liz Schucht (162), Trish Geiger (127), Morgan Westfall (125), Grace Roque (132), Marissa Mey (162)

COLLINGSWOOD (unranked overall, #11 in Group I)
2nd in South (1979)    GA: 128.9
Deja Marie Jackson (153), Josie Cook (116), Jackie Giordano (125), Selena Neris (133), Ava Engstrom (125)

Matawan looked great at sectionals, but this is likely a three-team battle between Ramsey, Carteret and Westwood, and among those three, I think perhaps Carteret is the team to beat.

GROUP II

OCEAN TOWNSHIP (#4 overall, #1 in Group II)
1st in Central (2682)    GA: 174.0
Alexa Tieto (179), Dana Henry (200), Emma Sylvia (154), Jenn Ingulli (208), Maribella Ferraina (146)

MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP (#5 overall, #2 in Group II)
2nd in South (2526)    GA: 173.8
Mackenzie Weber (178), Victoria Smith (167), Victoria Shaw (170), Kimberly Wolf (182), Theresa Bedaro (186)

HOLY ANGELS (#7 overall, #3 in Group II)
1st in North (2607)    GA: 168.2
Alexa Hernandez (176), Ciara Motley (161), Tiffany Sucero (188), Shiho Numakura (153), Amelia Brunda (165)

LACEY (#9 overall, #4 in Group II)
1st in South (2593)    GA: 167.7
Julia Muro (160), Samantha Trembley (148), Autumn Laird (180), Claudia Schreier (170), Liz Schreier (178)

DEMAREST (unranked overall, #5 in Group II)
2nd in North (2445)    GA: 149.7
Claudia Mattes (159), Sarah Shanahan (149), Alana Brenner (134), Abby Hockstein (149), Julia Pangburn (156)

COLTS NECK (unranked overall, #8 in Group II)
2nd in Central (2328)    GA: 145.8
Emilie Villaverde (119), Erica Dugan (165), Gianna Bamonte (136), Giovanna Masia (141), Morgan Gitlitz (174)

I'm guessing that Manchester reasserts itself after the loss at sectionals and this is a tough three-team contest between them, Ocean and AHA.  Ocean Township may just have too much power for the others.

GROUP III

WARREN HILLS (#2 overall, #1 in Group III)
1st in North (2794)    GA: 186.2
Katie Winch (181), Jessica Yerance (181), Kelcie Mannon (195), Elizabeth Hudock (185), Jenna Henderson (194)

BRICK TOWNSHIP (#3 overall, #2 in Group III)
1st in South (2725)    GA: 182.4
Emily Silber (172), Cristy Sharkey (176), Caylin Ryan (195), Julianna Forbes (188), Victoria Gray (189)

TOMS RIVER SOUTH (#8 overall, #3 in Group III)
2nd in South (2558)    GA: 167.6
Natalie Swindell (184), Ciani Sanchez (174), Jessica Ramirez (155), Mikayla Lane (159), Gabriella Damato (167)

EDISON (#10 overall, #4 in Group III)
2nd in Central (2538)    GA: 167.3
Fabriane Jean-Denis (145), Samantha Osiadacz (154), Samantha Salzone (189), Touri Holmes (172), Victoria Johnson (163)

TEANECK (#13 overall, #6 in Group III)
2nd in North (2625)    GA: 171.3
Mia Aish (175), Valeria Rosario (146), Gianni Caldazilla (163), Margaux Lesser (180), Gail Kelly (175)

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP (#16 overall, #8 in Group III)
1st in Central (2568)    GA: 158.0
Caitlyn Tamai (128), Clare Chaffer (190), Danielle Taylor (137), Sarah Orensky (190), Victoria Parrinello (156)

Brick Township and Warren Hills should distance themselves from the others, where Warren Hills has to be favored to overcome Brick Township's TOC experience.

GROUP IV

BRICK MEMORIAL (#1 overall, #1 in Group IV)
2nd in South (2712)    GA: 196.4
Amanda Shelters (202), Tori Bird (197), Rachel Katz (186), Sarah Pitcher (200), Jill Stuart (205)

TOMS RIVER NORTH (#6 overall, #2 in Group IV)
1st in South (2728)    GA: 170.1
Elena Patestos (156), Kennedy Pfeifer (156), Mackenzie Dudas (170), Cassidy Syrdale (173), Kamerin Peters (215)

HOWELL (#15 overall, #4 in Group IV)
1st in Central (2472)    GA: 158.5
Alexa Scranton (143), Amanda Dorner (182), Gianna DeVeau (145), Madison Gibson (184), Zoe Madamba (141)

BERGEN TECH (unranked overall, #9 in Group IV)
1st in North (2487)    GA: 143.1
Olivia Wank (176), Samantha Comes (150), Lauren Paolillo (131), Michelle Pardo (128), Daniela Abril (137)

KEARNY (unranked overall, #10 in Group IV)
2nd in North (2265)    GA: 142.7
Nicole Fonseca (157), Alexandra Gutierrez (148), Taylor Wright (138), Cassandra Gutierrez (132), Olivia Montanino (128)

EAST BRUNSWICK (unranked overall, #12 in Group IV)
2nd in Central (2352)    GA: 139.0
Alicia McLaughlin (152), Kate Onorato (159), Madison Steinbeck (157), Niral Patel (106), Sydney Ramos (127)

A repeat of TRN's sectional upset is unlikely, but no other team may be even capable of staying with Brick Memorial.
